What is cupping and does it work BBC News
A chiropractor demonstrates cupping, and makes all sorts of nonsensical and inaccurate statements. If course there isn't the slightest reason to think that this desperately implausible treatment has any benefits at all. DC tries to inject some realism.

Debate about the Saatchi Bill on RT TV (UK)

Debate about Lord Saatchi's Bill which would allow allow uncontrolled testing of treatments on any patient. It is not limited to cancer, nor to terminally ill patients (though some amendments, yet to be accepted, might change that). This sort of uncontrolled experimentation is likely to impede advances in treatment rather than to help it. And the vagueness of the wording of the bill could lead ...

How UK taught torture methods to Brazilian military junta. Shameful.

A clip from the BBC Newsnight programme, 29 May 2014. The brutality revealed at Abu Ghraib was a turning point for me. But it turns out that such uncivilised behaviour was not restricted to the USA. The military coup in Brazil in 1964 was supported by both UK and USA. It is now clear that the UK taught some of the torture methods used in Northern Ireland to the Brazilian junta. They called it t...

      And just to say "pharma is against alternative healing" is a bs statements as well. If every study shows that there is nor "real" benefit, then why in the world should the "pharma" industry support the bs methods. While some lobbies are interested in generating money of bs Medicine like homeopathic Treatments, the WHO still relies on study and scientific work.

    I notice you disabled all comments in all your videos, which does not allow viewers to voice their own public statement as you have done by form of your authority as a sworn in Doctor to the hippocratic oath. Allopathic medicine came after Original medicine which has withstood time;therefore proving it's own credibility. Allopathic care has its place for emergency only and for those who wish to become a part of the Doctor 'practice' and treat symptoms rather than the cause. Awareness would be a detriment to allopathic care because it would kill the medical industry since people would be healthy. What you practice is sick care and preach against true healthcare aka Original medicine which offers deep rooted fixes by lifestyle change from a holistic collaborative perspective. The pharmaceutical industry is necessary for extreme conditions such as emergency, but please live up to your oath and recognize that allopathic medicine is NOT the answer but a quick remedy only.

    I presume that defamatory comment refers to me, If you think that I favour the pharmaceutical industry you are dead wrong. Sadly Big Pharma uses exactly the same tricks as the (huge) alternative medicine industry to sell treatments that only too often make exaggerated clams. The main difference is that essentially no alternative treatments work -if they did they would be called medicine not alternative. And at least some of Big Pharma's products work rather well -would you refuse a local anesthetic at the dentist because it was invented and sold by big pharma? The fact is that is than nothing works well for back pain. Analgesic drugs don't and neither does acupuncture. It's an unsolved problem, like many others in medicine. When you think about it, that's obvious. If there were a good treatment then low back pain would not be the huge problem that it still is. Incidentally, this video is quite old. Since it appeared NICE has re-assessed the guidance for low back pain, It now says "Do not offer acupuncture".

    That is what dogmatic materialistic science and their money worshipping backers want you to believe. Materialism is based on antiquated Aristotelian Logic. These arrogant dogmatists can't explain why an airtight container of seeds on a balance scale when the moon is waning weigh more as the moon gets full. Where does the extra mass come from? Why do you get your best crop of sunflower plants when the seeds are planted when the sun is in Leo. With an open mind we know that the mineral is dead and the plant lives because the plant has a life force which obeys the laws of projective geometry, life forces coming from a periphery and intersecting and giving life to everything living. The Father God has thought all thoughts for eternity, Christ has given Life to these thoughts through Love and the Holy Spirit, through her Wisdom has given form to the Life. The four Gospels contain the most valuable knowledge obtainable concerning the occultism of healing. There is no document preserved to man from the past which has more of the mysteries of occult healing than the Gospels. Now the Bible as a whole consists of three parts : for the Revelation of St. John is as clearly distinct from the Gospels, as they are from the books of the Old Testament, As the Old Testament depicts the the preparation in earthly history for the Christ-event, and the Gospels the event itself, so the Apocalypse depicts the consequences resulting from that event. But the Apocalypse contains no history of the generations, such as the Old Testament contains, nor the delineation of the life and suffering of any single being, such as the Gospels give us. The Apocalypse depicts future human and cosmic events : it shows the cosmic results of the Incarnation of Christ. These results are not only of a spiritual and moral kind ; they partake of the character of Nature- happenings. The Apocalypse shows what influence spiritual and moral impulses will exercise in time to come upon the forces of Nature. Alterations in the strata of the Earth's interior and in the etheric strata round the Earth, are accurately described in the Revelation of St. John as effects of moral causes The cosmic drama of the Apocalypse deals not only with the struggle which concerns Mankind, but also with the struggle which concerns Nature. It points to facts lying outside the regions of eugenic and hygienic occultism : for the effect of the humanly spiritual on the external Nature-forces is the theme of mechanical occultism. And the Apocalypse is the only authoritative document which preserves to man the knowledge contained in mechanical occultism.

    Dr. Richard Horton, chief editor of prestigious peer reviewed medical journal The Lancet said recently "The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness." Dr. Marcia Angell, editor of the New England Medical Journal also said "It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine". Truth is a slippery concept. It is those self appointed gatekeepers most sure they are in possession of it that are the ones to be most skeptical of.

    We are now in a period of time where mainstream medicine is the major player in treatment of disease and yet many diseases eg cancers, autism, alzheimers are increasing at an incredible rate. It seems that modern medical practice is completely incapable of preventing these diseases and it's success rate at curing is somewhat questionable also. Regardless, we are all given inalienable rights as humans so what business is it of anyone else if I decide to treat myself with herbs or otherwise?

    I can agree with @lovepizzaforever07 that money is the root of much evil. The alt med industry is worth about $60 billion pa. That's quite enough to make the industry exaggerate what their products can achieve. The methods used by the alternative industry to deceive people are remarkably similar to those used by Big Pharma. The main difference is that at least some of the products of Big Pharma actually work. Or do you refuse to have a local anesthetic at the dentist?

Just look at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine "Herbs at a glance" (see description) There is little reason to believe that herbs even ameliorate symptoms of any disease, never mind cure them.

    Most herbal medicines on sale in the high street are a bloody scam but the government doesn't care about people being scammed. As long as they do no harm, companies can carry on producing them and ripping people off. I'd love to know how many people have, like me, tried this or that "remedy" just the once and never bothered again. Hundreds of thousands, I reckon. As long they're on sale they can always rely on people buying them to try and that's good for profits, which is all that matters.

  • @DrSceptic
    @DrSceptic 12 лет назад

    I didn't say that herbs have no effects, Some are quite toxic. I said that there is no condition for which herbs are the first choice of treatment. In the UK there isn't a single herbal preparation that has full marketing authorisation from the MHRA. Their licensing depends only on demonstrating their safety. no evidence that they work needs to be presented.
